This is a rare rifle you do not see very often, and especially in this nice of condition!
This is a RARE British Mark V (5) trials rifle. Between 1922-24 these rifles were built to try a new experimental rear sight system and barrel band configuration for the No1 Enfields.  Starting with a No1 action the design was modified to  feature a new form of rear sight on the back of the receiver, and the addition of an extra barrel band at the front of the stock.  The barrel band addition was an attempt to strengthen the stock in this area due to the experiences of trench warfare during WW1.  The rear sight was just one of several attempts to improve the sighting picture of the Enfields.  This particular sight design while similar to the later No4 rear sight is different, and was not a pattern that was adopted.  In all about 20,000 of this pattern Mark V were produced, but were called back from service, as they were deemed not suitable for adoption.  Kept in storage until the beginnings of WW2 they were pulled from storage and again issued to British troops after Dunkirk and a shortage of weapons.  Few have survived the years since then.

This example is in very nice condition, with no import markings, and is completely numbers matching!  It has a sharp, shiny and tight bore that is near mint.  The bluing is about 90% with a very nice dark walnut stock that shows just a few tiny bumps.  The stock has not been sanded, refinished or messed with in any way.   The pictures tell the story on this one, so be sure to zoom in and see the details!

Chances to own an example this nice of a RARE rifle do not come along often!
