Unusual 1950 Iraqi Mauser 98k - 8mm
Here is an unusual post war built Mauser. It started life as a Czech built 98k marked with the production code of "tgf" and the date of 1950. This is the last variation of the Czech post war produced 98k pattern rifles. At some point in time it has had a rework of some sort where the Czech military acceptance stamp was defaced, and the Czech factory name was scrubbed from the side of the receiver. This rework was probably done in Iraq, as the rifle also has the Iraqi "Jeem" marking (Triangle with what looks like an upside down "2" inside). During this rework the stock has been repaired at the wrist and some parts have been scrubbed and numbered to match the original Czech serial number. A rather unusual specimen of the post war 98k it is made even more interesting in the former Iraqi ownership. Small discreet import stamp on bottom of the barrel near muzzle and a bright, sharp, and shiny bore will make this rifle an excellent shooter to ad to your collection!
