The classic French Lebel of WW1 & French Foreign Legion fame!  This wonderful old survivor is in amazing shape for a 130 year old rifle.  The numbers all match on this rifle, lots of the original blue remains, and the bore is bright, tight and has plenty of life left as a shooter.   Lebel's were the first small bore military rifle that sent the world scrambling to adopt more modern weapons when the were first adopted in 1886.  This example was manufactured at the French arsenal of Chatellerault in 1887, and later rebuilt into the model 1886/1893.  During the French ownership it underwent some repairs to the stock, that look like perhaps an old shrapnel hit on the right side just in front of the receiver.  The small square patches are typical French work as are the small spots of a paste made from Lime and linseed oil for smaller repairs.  The rifle comes with a long pattern cruciform bayonet affectionately known to French troops in the trenches of WW1 by the nickname "Rosalie".  With "Rosalie" attached, this impressive weapon is almost 6 feet long!   Most likely a bringback from WW! there are no import markings, and it is marked with the "N" on the chamber meaning it was updated for the newer "Balle N" 8mm Lebel rounds.
These unmessed with Long Lebel rifles are getting very hard to find in such nice condition, and this example will not disapoint.  It makes an impressive display!
No FFL needed as this is an antique!
