Colombian Model 1950 Mauser 30-06
Here is an interesting Old Mauser 98 not seen very often anymore. This started life as a Colombian Model 1930 Mauser 98 built on contract by FN in Belgium for Colombia in 7mm. In about 1950 Colombia adopted the US 30-06 cartrige as standard and rebuilt these older Mausers into what they called the Model 1950. This included reboring them from 7mm to 30-06 and other repairs as needed. This particular example received a new Colombian made stock, with the rather unique cupped sheet metal butt plate of the Model 1950's. The rifles were then marked on the rear receiver bridge with the ".30" caliber designation, and reblued. The rifle seen here has matching numbers, it's cleaning rod and a sling. The bore is bright and shiny and gauges a 1.5 at the muzzle out of 10. The rifle has a tiny discreet import marking on the bottom of the barrel near the muzzle indicating it was imported to the US in the early 1990's.
