NICE Spanish Mauser FR 7 in 7.62x51 (308) & Bayonet
Here is a fun little carbine that reminds you of the British Jungle Carbines. Known as the Spanish FR 7 these were 7mm Spanish Mausers reworked in the late 50's early 1960's to be used as training rifles for the Spanish CETME Gas Operated Rifles. Rebarreled to 7.62 NATO (.308) and they have the sights and bayonet mounts of the CETME so that recruits shooting them could get the sight picture and feel of a CETME. Common back in the 1990's they have dried up from importers stock. Built on the Model 1895 Mauser action they cock on closing, and have a 5 round fixed magazine. The bore on this example is stunning and mint, and the numbers match . It shows a little wear from use but nothing too serious just a few dents to the wood shown in the pictures. The metal finish is 98%, and it comes complete with a sling and bayonet. NOTE... This is the best variation of the FR 7 to acquire. After initial runs of these it was discovered that the stocks were sometimes cracking behind the rear tang in the wrist area. To cure this, the Spanish installed a Recoil Cross Bolt to absorb and distribute recoil better. This is one that has been reworked and had the crack repaired with an arsenal patch in the wrist, and the cross bolt installed!
