1937 S/42 Code Mauser k98 8mm
This early WW2 German 98k is just eye catching when displayed! With the early Mauser Werke code of S/42 and dated as made in 1937 this old war dog has certainly seen use, but has managed to survive in rather nice condition. Unfortunately this rifle has a mixture of parts and numbers. I don't know any of the history of the rifle, other than it came from a local collection. The stock is amazing, but shows just a slight cleaning and light refinish, but has not been butchered in the process. It does have the proper WaA63 inspection stamps for an S/42 code rifle but the numbers do not match the barreled action. The metal on this has about 75% blue remaining with some areas stronger than others. The barrel bands are very nice, and match each other, but do not match anything else. The bolt has had its numbers scrubbed. The bore on this is bright and shiny but shows some wear. Overall if you want a representative example of an early k98 but do not want to spend the $2,000+ for a matching example in this condition, here is a chance to have one you will not be afraid to shoot, this is the perfect example!
