Polish Mauser Model WZ 29 8x57mm
Dripping with history is this Polish Mauser model WZ29! Built after 1929 in Poland, it was one of a few rifles sent by Poland to Spain as aid during the Spanish Civil War! It survived the Spanish Civil War and was rebuilt in Spain where the Polish markings were scrubbed off the rifle. From Spain it was imported into the US as surplus in the 1960's. Coming out of an old collection, the rifle is in very nice condition considering all the conflicts it has seen. The rifle has a correct Polish Straight bolt though the bolt is not matching numbers. This is common with the Spanish rebuilt variations. As is also common that the stocks on Polish WZ29's are notched for clearance for either a straight, or a bent bolt handle... In other words, they are correct with both variations of bolt handles, with the stock notched to allow use of both on all WZ29's. Bore is decent with some debris/darkness in the grooves.
